Case Study
The Task:
Identify an efficient and cost-effective HR Solution which includes a Time & Attendance module for a growing multi-site organisation.

The Challenge
Celtic Renewables are a leading renewables manufacturer, converting low-value byproducts into high-value green chemicals. In 2015 they were named the most Innovative Biotech SME in Europe.
With the business expanding to 3 sites and a headcount of 60, they needed a Time & Attendance (T&A) system that offered Clocking-In functionality, but also a solution which would support their Health & Safety Conduct.

With an HR System already in place, Celtic Renewables initially considered sourcing a standalone Time & Attendance system which would integrate into their existing HR system, however, this was proving to be an incredibly costly solution.
Celtic Renewables were unsure whether to keep pursuing the notion of a separate system, or whether there was an HR Solution which could offer the T&A module as part of an overall HRIS – and this is where they needed help.
The Process
With a daunting process ahead to either find a standalone cost effective Time & Attendance solution, or to source an entirely new HR system which already included this functionality, Celtic Renewables’ Head of People reached out to their network to ask for support in this process, and in early 2024 was recommended to contact the team at LunarCloud.
With their vast knowledge and experience in the HR system market, LunarCloud were able to support via their HR System Selection Service. This process included taking the time to pull together exactly what was important to Celtic Renewables and why, speaking to various teams to get a full understanding of their requirements from all departments, and then matching this to suitable HR systems, at all times ensuring solutions were within set budgets.
From this process, 3 suitable HR systems were identified, presented and demonstrated to Celtic Renewables with an unbiased opinion. These systems varied in functionality and cost, but all included the Time & Attendance module they required. This meant they could fully appreciate what each system offered at a different pricepoint, helping them to identify what was most important to the wider business.
The final phase of the process involved Celtic Renewables running their own internal analysis on the HR Solutions presented to them, which would allow them to make a well informed and educated decision on the best solution.

THE OUTCOME
Celtic Renewables’ final decision was to choose a new HR Solution from the 3 which were presented to them.
The new HR system met a vast majority of their requirements and offered a wide range of functionality and, most importantly, the Time & Attendance module they needed.
This meant they could track their teams whereabouts across their 3 sites, know when they were working from home, and also offer all the absence tracking and secure documentation storage needed by the HR team.
How the process worked
Throughout the HR system selection process, LunarCloud set deadlines and expectations of each stage of the process, and fully explained what would happen next.
All the HR systems presented to Celtic Renewables matched their requirements, taking away the laborious and time-consuming task of sourcing suitable systems themselves.
Adopting this strategy also ensures that Celtic Renewables had a solution that sets them up for the future.
